Hallowieners Want to be Their Favorite Hero
Your fur baby might not know it yet, but he really wants to wear a dachshund minion costume this Halloween. Why? Because he or she wants to dress just like their hero, Crusoe.
Ok, well, maybe it’s ME who wants to dress my doxies like Crusoe. I read his blog as faithfully as I watch my favorite soap opera.
I know, I have no life.
I like reading his blog because Crusoe channels the very essence of dachshund-ism. Dachshunds by nature believe they are the center of the universe, and we are just, well, their people who are just there to give them treats.
Crusoe wants to take over the world, and, of course, he needs minions to accomplish that. Cue your dachshund in a doxie minion costume.

The only place I’ve been able to find a minion costume that would fit a dachshund is on Amazon. They’re not made exclusively for dachshunds, but they do have sizes XS-XL, which are divided by height, neck, and back length. That sizing makes it so helpful when you’re trying to dress a dachshund.
All sizes of miniature and standard dachshunds should be able to find their size within this size chart.
- X-Small：Height 4.3 inches, Neck length 7.9 inches, Back length 8.3 inches
- Small: Height 5.1 inches, Neck length 8.3 inches, Back length 9.4 inches
- Medium: Height 5.5 inches, Neck length 9.1 inches, Back length 11.4 inches
- Large: Height 5.9 inches, Neck length 11.4 inches, Back length 13.8 inches
- X-Large: Height 5.9 inches, Neck length 13 inches, Back length 15.7 inches
Satisfaction is high for this minion dog costume, the rating is 4.5 out of 5 stars. However, a lot of the reviewers say the sizes run small and recommend ordering a size up. I think if your dog’s measurements fall near or right at the size, it would be best to order the next bigger size, just to be sure.
After all, all those Halloween goodies can wreak havoc on one’s waist.

If you’re looking for a dachshund minion costume that won’t be covering up your doxie’s head, this outfit should be more up your alley.
This dachshund Halloween costume is basically a minion “jumpsuit.” It does come with a headpiece, but the costume looks great without it. Having something on their head is where my doxies draw the line when I try to dress them up.
This outfit is sized similar to the other minion costume, but it goes by numerical sizes. Here’s the size chart for the Rubie’s Pet Halloween Minion Costume:
Size 1 : Back 7.9″, chest 11.8″
Size 2 : Back 9.8″ chest13.8″
Size 3 : Back 11.4″ chest16.1″

How to Make a Dog Minion Costume
I’m a crafty person, and sometimes you want to just make something yourself, you know? I’m not a control freak or anything, but I have a large standard dachshund. If I buy a XL, it will fit his length, but it will be too long and he’ll be tripping on it. I also like to add my own personality to things. Who wants a costume that looks like everyone else’s anyway?
Luckily, Crusoe has been kind enough to let his owners/managers share how they made his dachshund minion costume in a DIY video. I wouldn’t recommend it if you don’t have experience, unless you’re a really determined beginner. It doesn’t require too many supplies, though.

- A Pair of Kevin Overalls
